The new Sonos One has Amazon Alexa voice control built in! Sonos adds the new player to its family as an easy to use, hands free approach to control music.
How to Set Up the Sonos One
Sonos One connects with Amazon Alexa over Wi-Fi. The easy set up requires the Amazon Alexa app and Sonos app. This allows the speaker to answer questions, give new updates, play music and more. Pretty much everything Alexa can already do, but using nothing else but the Sonos One.
What’s the main difference between Play:1 and Sonos One?
The new player has a louder, deeper sound than the Play:1. Also, with the Sonos One, you can control your whole system, not just one speaker; called multi-room voice control. Meaning a Amazon Dot is no longer needed to voice control Sonos, this speaker can do all of that. Also, the touch compensates are at the top.
Here's a main breakdown!
Start and control your music with your voice. Amazon Alexa built right in.
Play songs, check news and traffic, manage smart devices and enjoy all those other helpful Amazon Alexa skills using a single Sonos speaker.
Combine voice with the Sonos app to manage all your music in one place: Amazon Music, Spotify, Apple Music, internet radio and hundreds of other streaming services.
Connect wirelessly with other Sonos Home Sound System speakers to play music in any or every room.
Enjoy surprisingly rich, room-filling sound from a smart speaker.
Seamless all-black or all-white color with smooth matte finish for an appearance that fits in any home.
Sonos’s Plan for the Future
As of now there is no plan to discontinue the Play:1. However, they will certainly need to drop the price of the Play:1. That’s to come soon, we’re sure. Sonos plans to add Google Assistant in 2018! It’s possible that the voice control integration will stem out to the rest of the Sonos family. Meaning you can ask Alexa, Siri or Google. Sones’s goal is to voice control all music services.
